- If you are pregnant or nursing, we recommend that you consult with your physician before receiving a spray tan application.
- Be advised there may be a small percentage of individuals whose skin does not react favorably to spray tanning. Some medications such as birth control pills, hormone replacement medications, or antibiotics may alter your tan. For this reason, we highly advise doing a trial spray tan when your appearance is critical (weddings, special occasions, etc.).
- DHA is listed in the Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act (FD&C Act) as a color additive for use in imparting color to the human body. However, its use in cosmetics – including sunless “tanning” products – is restricted to external application. DHA reacts with the skin’s amino acids resulting in a “tan” similar looking to that of the sun. The darker you can tan naturally, the darker you can tan with a spray tan. Like most cosmetics, avoid exposure to the eyes, lips, and other parts of the body covered with a mucous membrane.
- Your spray tan should last an average of 5 days, depending on your skin type and how well you take care of your sunless tan. It’s very important to keep your skin moisturized after your spray tan, avoiding long baths or showers and hot tubs. Salt water exposure or a chlorinated pool can also shorten your spray tan. See below for further instructions on preparing for and maintaining your spray tan.
If you do not have time before your spray tan to prepare and dress as indicated below, do not worry! Come as you are, and our certified specialist will take care of you!
PREPARATION:
- Exfoliate well with an oil-free body wash and a wash cloth. Do not use oil scrubs or coffee scrubs. Oil creates a barrier and your tan will not process well. If you are waxing, it should be done 48 hours prior, and shaving 24 hours prior to your spray session for optimal processing results.
DAY OF APPOINTMENT:
- Your skin should be free of: make-up, deodorant, sweat, fragrances, lotions, and jewelry, and it should be clean and prepared in accordance to the above instructions. If expecting inclement weather, please dress accordingly to cover your skin (long pants and long sleeves), and bring an umbrella.
ARRIVING TO YOUR APPOINTMENT:
- Loose fitting clothing and an open shoe are preferred, but not necessary.
- During your spray session, you may dress down to your comfort level.
POST APPOINTMENT:
- Avoid moisturizing your skin, applying makeup and any activities that will cause perspiration until after you shower. For optimum results, wait the recommended time for the spray tan you received before showering.
- For a Classic Spray Tan, wait 12 to 24 hours.
- For a Rapid Spray Tan, wait 1 to 3 hours.
- DO NOT use soaps, exfoliants, shower gels, or shampoos on your body during the initial rinse. Use water ONLY, DO NOT shave arms/legs, and wait 24 hours to wash your hair. You may see the immediate bronzing color wash off of your skin during your rinse - this is just the color guide and does not affect the spray tan. Pat dry - do NOT rub the water off with your towel. You should moisturize your skin after your first rinse, but wait 24 hours until using soaps or body wash. Moisturize daily with products that are sulfate-free for best results. We recommend using products formulated solely for spray tanning, which we sell at our salon. If you have any questions, please contact the salon during normal business hours.
